Fate’s Fertile Shade 2024
hot-sculpted and sandblasted glass vertebrae, flameworked flora, steel, mounting putty, open cell foam, paint
The body works hard and ages harder. Beneath the harshness of financial and societal obligations, many are pinned to a straight and futile path. Yet the spirit finds a shape of cool relief in which to flourish.
A clear glass ladder made of sculpted vertebrae leans tiredly against the wall. In the shelter of its shadow, a moss-like carpet of flameworked flora seems to be growing upwards in a mirror of the ladder’s form. This piece explores the relationship between the value of our labor and the value of our rest.
